fun fact has long the female mantis is well feed! and not stressed!
male mantis generally avoid female who are hungry or struggle to survive. (but some try anyway!)

the male can survive the mating!
but when they survive mating, they do this multiple time to multiple mate!
making they chance of survival cumulatively lower!

all of it to said, make sure she well feed before going on a date! ;3
